Buying in China: what you need to know
China’s furniture industry is concentrated in several centres. Foshan (Guangdong), especially Shunde district with the Lecong furniture market, is the largest centre for cabinet, upholstered and hotel furniture. Anji (Zhejiang) is known for office chairs and seating. Many factories also operate in Dongguan and Jiangxi province. So you can buy furniture wholesale from China for any task — from office workstations to fully furnishing a hotel.
Furniture for business falls into two areas. Standard furniture — office desks, chairs, seating, storage systems — is chosen from factory catalogues. Contract furniture for hotels, restaurants and institutions is made to the designer’s drawings: the factory produces shop drawings and a sample room, and only after approval the batch. When choosing, check the carcass material (laminated chipboard, MDF, solid wood, veneer), board emission class, hardware, upholstery and filling, and chair mechanisms.
Factory levels vary greatly: large export factories have their own design departments and hotel project experience; small workshops are cheaper but do not keep quality consistent across a large batch. Typical mistakes are choosing furniture from a catalogue photo without seeing a sample, not agreeing tolerances for niche dimensions, and forgetting that furniture takes up a lot of space in transit — and shipping cost depends on exactly that volume.
We select a furniture supplier for your project, arrange samples and fix materials and hardware in the specification. Before shipping we check the batch at the factory, assemble selected pieces and supervise packing.
