Buying in China: what you need to know
Farm machinery in China is made by large engineering groups. Lovol (Weichai Lovol) is based in Weifang, Shandong province, and makes tractors, grain combines and mounted implements. YTO is the historic tractor plant in Luoyang, Henan province. Dongfeng builds tractors in Changzhou, and Foton under the Lovol brand and its own ranges. Around the major plants, hundreds of manufacturers make mounted implements, seeders and sprayers. Drip irrigation is a separate field: in China it is widely used on cotton, especially in Xinjiang, which is also home to many makers of drip tape, emitters and filtration units.
Buying a tractor from China pays off when the configuration is chosen correctly. We look at power for the implements, four-wheel or rear-wheel drive, gearbox type and shuttle, hitch lift capacity, number of hydraulic outlets, PTO and its speed, and a cab with air conditioning. For cotton and vegetable fields, track width and ground clearance matter. For a combine — header width, grain tank, threshing system type and whether the headers suit your crops. For a sprayer — tank volume, boom width and pump type; for a seeder — number of rows and compatibility with your seed.
The difference between factories lies in component quality and export experience. Large manufacturers provide parts catalogues and service manuals and build machines to export specification. Small assemblers offer a low price but use random components, and after one season spare parts become a problem. A common mistake is buying a tractor without matching it to specific implements, and then finding the power or hydraulics are not enough. For subsidies and leasing, check the terms of your country’s programmes: we prepare the factory documents that are usually required for them.

Oversized cargo
Combines and wide implements are often oversized — we plan disassembly, lowbeds or rail flatcars in advance.
In time for the season
Series machines are usually assembled in 15–45 days, plus delivery: by road 12–20 days, by rail 18–30 days. We plan the order back from the start date of field work.
Consolidated shipments
The tractor, implements and spare parts are combined into one shipment so they do not travel separately.
Documents and certificates
Uzbekistan
An O‘zstandart certificate of conformity for machinery subject to mandatory certification, and registration with the technical supervision authority. We check in advance.
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia (EAEU)
Tractors — TR CU 031/2012, farm machinery — TR CU 010/2011; registration requires a self-propelled machine passport. We check by HS code.
Subsidies and leasing
Programmes usually require factory documents and certificates — we prepare them; check the programme terms with the operator in your country.
Requirements depend on the exact HS code. We check them before purchase and include the cost of certification in the quote.
