Buying in China: what you need to know
Plastic pipe production in China is spread across the country; the big players are Lesso and Rifeng (Foshan, Guangdong) and Weixing (Taizhou, Zhejiang), plus hundreds of regional factories. Electrofusion fittings, compression couplings and shut-off valves are made at separate specialised plants, and drip lines and tapes at irrigation equipment factories. So a large order for a water main or irrigation is usually put together from several specialised producers.
When buying PE pipe from China, what matters is not the “PE100” label but the actual resin and wall. Common problems: recycled polyethylene mixed in, wall thickness at or below the lower tolerance limit, SDR and PN markings that do not match the actual dimensions. Such pipe may pass a visual check but fail to withstand operating pressure or welding. For drinking water pipes the resin must also be approved for contact with drinking water.
Factories differ in raw material and quality control. Export-oriented factories use resin from well-known producers and have a laboratory for hydrostatic pressure tests, oxidation induction time (OIT) and melt flow rate (MFR). Small factories often run on mixed raw material without incoming inspection. A supplier’s pipe price almost always reflects exactly this, not production efficiency. For fittings and electrofusion couplings, moulding accuracy and the quality of the embedded heating wire also matter: a poor coupling gives an incomplete fusion that only shows up during pressure testing.
What we do differently: we set the standard (GOST 18599 for PE, ISO 4427 or other), resin grade, SDR and tolerances in the contract, and at the factory we measure outside diameter and wall on samples from the batch and request test reports. We deliver pipes and fittings wholesale to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in full truckloads or as part of groupage shipments.

How we check this particular product
- Diameter and wall
- We measure outside diameter, wall thickness and ovality on samples from the batch and compare them with the SDR and the standard’s tolerances.
- Raw material
- We request the resin grade and raw material documents. We check MFR and OIT reports — they reveal recycled polyethylene.
- Hydrostatic tests
- We request hydrostatic pressure test reports to the standard for each batch.
- Marking
- We check the marking along the pipe: material, SDR, PN, diameter, standard, date and batch number.
- Fittings and valves
- We check fitting compatibility with the pipes by SDR, electrofusion fitting performance and valve pressure testing.

Shipping: what to keep in mind
Pipes are bulky cargo
Large-diameter pipes take up volume, not weight. To save space we nest smaller pipes inside larger ones.
Length of sections
We agree section lengths to suit the transport: semi-trailer or container. Pipes up to 110 mm are cheaper to ship in coils.
End protection
We cap pipe ends, especially for drinking water and gas, so dirt does not get inside.
Documents and certificates
Uzbekistan
O‘zstandart certificate of conformity for items subject to mandatory certification; for pipes in contact with drinking water — a hygiene certificate. We check by HS code.
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia (EAEU)
Materials in contact with drinking water may need a sanitary and epidemiological assessment; actuated valves may fall under TR CU 010/2011. We check by HS code.
For gas pipelines
For gas pipes and fittings we agree in advance with your project the standard and documents required by the gas utility.
Requirements depend on the exact HS code. We check them before purchase and include the cost of certification in the quote.

EAEU rates are taken from the official EAEU Common Customs Tariff (EEC Council Decision No. 80), excluding preferences and temporary exemptions. For Uzbekistan and other countries the calculator uses the rate of the selected country. The final code depends on the exact product description.

How do I check that the pipe really is PE100?
We request the resin grade and test reports (MFR, OIT, hydrostatic) and measure the wall on samples. If a factory will not give raw material data, we do not offer that supplier.
Which SDR should I choose for a water main?
SDR is chosen by operating pressure and the safety margin required by the project. The lower the SDR, the thicker the wall and the higher the permissible pressure. We select according to the project.
Do Chinese factories make pipe to GOST?
Yes, many export factories make pipe to GOST 18599 on order. This must be stated in the contract and checked against the marking.
Can pipes be shipped together with fittings and a welding machine?
Yes, we combine pipes, fittings, valves and welding equipment into one batch and send them in one truck or container.
How long do pipes from China take?
Production depends on availability, usually 15–45 days. Delivery to Tashkent by truck takes 12–20 days, by rail 18–30 days.

What is the minimum order for pipes?
For pipe of a specific diameter made at the factory, the minimum depends on the line and the diameter. We combine small quantities with other items into a groupage shipment.
