Buying in China: what you need to know

Machine tool building in China is divided by specialisation. Jinan in Shandong province is a major centre for fiber laser cutting machines, home to Bodor and many other manufacturers. HSG is in Foshan, Han’s Laser in Shenzhen. Press brakes and guillotine shears are mainly made in Ma’anshan, Anhui province, and in Nantong. CNC lathes and milling machines are made both by large state-owned plants in Shenyang and Dalian and by private manufacturers in Shandong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu.

Buying a CNC machine from China the right way means choosing it for the part, not from a catalogue. For a lathe, the swing over bed, turning length, spindle bore and turret type matter. For a machining centre — axis travels, spindle taper, speed and tool magazine capacity. For a laser cutter — source power, bed size, metal thicknesses, cutting head type and whether there is an exchange table. The CNC system is chosen separately: Fanuc, Siemens or the Chinese GSK and KND; for lasers — Raycus, MAX or IPG sources.

Factories differ in bed rigidity, the quality of linear guides, ball screws and spindles, and electrical components. A cheap machine is often built on unknown components and loses accuracy within a year or two. Typical mistakes are ignoring the power supply and foundation, buying a laser without a compressor and fume extraction, or taking a machine without training and essential spare parts. Another mistake is choosing the highest laser power, even though most jobs are cut at smaller thicknesses.

We act as a machine tool supplier for a specific production setup: we agree the specification for every component, inspect the machine at the factory with test cuts on your parts, arrange delivery and commissioning by factory engineers or our specialists, and train the operators. Together with the machine we supply tooling, consumables and essential spare parts.

What we supply

Slant-bed and flat-bed lathes, turning centres with live tooling.

Milling and machining centres

Vertical and horizontal machining centres, gantry machines, CNC milling machines.

Press brakes

Hydraulic and electro-hydraulic CNC press brakes with backgauge and tooling.

Guillotines and plasma

CNC guillotine shears, gantry plasma cutters with a table sized for your sheet.

Tooling and peripherals

Compressors, fume extractors, chillers, tooling, nozzles and lenses, spare parts.

How we check this particular product

Component-level specification
We fix the CNC, laser source, spindle, guides, ball screws and servo drive models in the contract.
Test machining
Before shipment we machine your parts or test samples and check dimensions and surface or cut quality.
Accuracy and geometry
We request reports on positioning accuracy and machine geometry checks.
Electrics for your grid
We check voltage, frequency, connected load, and earthing and voltage stabilisation requirements.
Documentation and training
Manuals, wiring diagrams, software, and a commissioning and operator training plan.

What to send for an accurate quote

  • Parts to be machined: drawings or photos, materials
  • Workpiece or sheet sizes, metal thicknesses
  • Required accuracy and throughput
  • Preferences for CNC and components
  • Workshop conditions: power supply, floor area, height
  • Delivery city and whether commissioning is needed

Shipping: what to keep in mind

Packing

Machines are packed in wooden crates with anti-corrosion protection and moving parts secured.

Oversized cargo

Large lasers and press brakes may not fit a standard container — we choose an open-top container or lowbed in advance.

Lead times

Series models usually take 15–45 days; custom machines follow the factory schedule, which we fix in the contract. Delivery: by road 12–20 days, by rail 18–30 days.

Documents and certificates

Uzbekistan

An O‘zstandart certificate of conformity for equipment subject to mandatory certification. We check by HS code.

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia (EAEU)

As a rule, TR CU 010/2011, 004/2011 and 020/2011. We determine requirements by HS code before purchase.

Commissioning

Factory test reports and commissioning and training certificates — required for the warranty and for putting the machine into service.

Requirements depend on the exact HS code. We check them before purchase and include the cost of certification in the quote.

Questions about this category

Which laser cutter from China should I choose?

It depends on sheet thicknesses and material, order volume and part size. We match source power and bed size to your workload. Send us typical parts and thicknesses and we will propose 2–3 configurations.

Bodor, HSG or Han’s — what is the difference?

They are different manufacturers with their own ranges, control systems and service networks. We compare specific models by components, accuracy and support in your region.

Do you commission the machines?

Yes. We arrange commissioning by factory engineers or our specialists and train operators in operation and maintenance.

Can I check the machine before buying?

Yes. At the factory we run test machining on your parts or samples and send you video and measurements.

Which CNC system is better?

Fanuc and Siemens are widespread and familiar to operators; the Chinese GSK and KND are cheaper. The choice depends on your tasks, available specialists and service requirements.

What needs to be prepared in the workshop?

A power supply of the required capacity, a foundation or level floor, compressed air, and fume extraction for laser and plasma. Before delivery we provide the factory’s site requirements.

How long does it take to get a CNC machine?

Series models usually take 15–45 days. Machines with a special specification follow the factory schedule, which we fix in the contract. Delivery to Tashkent: by road 12–20 days, by rail 18–30 days.
