Packaging and filling equipment from China

Packaging machinery production in China is concentrated in several clusters. Wenzhou and Rui’an in Zhejiang province are the centre for filling and packaging machines; Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province is known for water and beverage bottling lines; Guangzhou and Foshan have many makers of machines for food and household chemicals; Dongguang county in Hebei province is the centre for corrugated board and box-making equipment.

To buy a filling machine from China and start it up without problems, the equipment must be matched to the product and the packaging. For dry products, the doser matters: an auger filler for powders, a volumetric or weigher filler for grains and granules. For liquids — the filling principle (piston, gravity, level), viscosity and foaming. For doypack and vertical packaging — bag type, film width, seal type and output in bags per minute. For a bottling line — container volume, cap type, rinsing, labelling and shrink-wrapping into multipacks.

Factories differ in design, materials and components. A good machine has stainless steel in the product-contact zone and well-known pneumatics and electrics. Cheap machines cut corners on materials and controls, and dosing accuracy and seal consistency suffer. Common mistakes are not testing the equipment on your own product and film, not ensuring the machines in a line are compatible, and not budgeting for spare parts. Another is buying a machine with spare capacity that the neighbouring sections of the line cannot match.
