Woodworking machinery from China

China’s main centre for woodworking machinery is Foshan (Shunde district, Lunjiao), home to hundreds of factories making panel saws, edge banders, boring machines and cabinet furniture lines. CNC nesting routers for cutting boards are mass-produced in Jinan (Shandong). Major furniture machinery brands include Nanxing, KDT and others. You can buy woodworking machinery from China at any level — from simple workshop machines to automated lines — but the supplier should be chosen by specialisation: a factory making edge banders rarely makes good CNC machines, and vice versa.

The choice depends on material and production programme. For cabinet furniture made of melamine-faced chipboard and MDF, what matters is the accuracy of the main saw and scoring saw, the length of the panel saw’s sliding table, the set of edge bander units (end trimming, flush trimming, scraping, buffing) and edge thickness. For CNC nesting — bed size, spindle power, automatic tool change, vacuum table and software. For solid wood — a drying kiln, planers and four-sided moulders.

Low-cost machines have a light frame, light-duty guides and weak motors — they lose accuracy within a few months of operation. Mid- and top-tier factories use cast frames, linear guides and components from well-known makers, and state precise tolerances. We check this at the factory, not from photos. If you plan to expand, we check from the start whether a second edge bander or automatic loading can be added to the line later without replacing what you have already bought.

A typical mistake is building a line from different factories’ machines without a common logic: the CNC nesting is not matched to the edge banding in throughput, or the boring machine is not matched in software. Another is forgetting dust extraction and the compressor.
