Buying in China: what you need to know
China produces a large share of the world’s welding inverters. Major manufacturers — Jasic and Riland (Shenzhen), Time (Beijing) — make equipment for stick welding, MIG welders, TIG machines and plasma cutters. Besides the brands, hundreds of factories make welders under other companies’ trademarks. Welding equipment from China can be bought wholesale either under the manufacturer’s brand or under your own label.
A machine is chosen by process and duty. For MMA, the welding current and the duty cycle at the required current matter; for MIG/MAG — the wire feeder type, synergic control and pulse; for TIG — AC/DC for aluminium and HF ignition. For production work, the duty cycle at maximum current and in hot conditions matters: a machine with a 60 % duty cycle is very different from one with 30 % at the same current. For polyethylene pipe, butt fusion or electrofusion machines are chosen for the diameter range.
Cheap machines often quote a current they cannot sustain, use weak power transistors and heat sinks, and cannot cope with low mains voltage. Machines from brands and good factories have real rated data, work over a wide input voltage range and have protection. This matters for sites in Uzbekistan with an unstable grid and for running off a generator. We ask welding equipment suppliers specific questions about parameters and warranty and compare the answers from several factories before recommending an option.
Common mistakes are comparing machines on maximum current alone, ignoring the duty cycle, buying hobby models for a workshop, and not ordering torches, cables and consumables. We check the machines on a load bank at the factory, verify the configuration against the order, and ship to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries together with consumables.

We request data sheets with real duty cycle figures, wiring diagrams and manuals from the factory before shipment.
